Since Becoming a WV Youth Ambassador…
I’ve felt this warm, fuzzy feeling inside me. What is that feeling you may ask? POWER!!!
I believe power can be a good thing. In this sense it is! Since becoming an Ambassador I feel like i have the Power to change the world. We all do! But now I’m only more aware of my influence in change.
I lead a busy life. I’m in grade 12, therefore I have to decide what I want to do with my life. I have to apply to Universities, apply for scholarships, etc. I’m also involved in at least 9 different extra-curricular clubs, as well as I take 2 dance classes a week and I am currently rehearsing for a musical that opens next Friday. There are a million times a week when I just want to crash and go to the movies with friends, but I just don’t have the time.
At times it feels meaningless. But being a part of a huge organization like World Vision makes me feel like I’m a part of something bigger, like I’m not just working my butt off for just me, like my efforts can create a ripple effect that can cause a positive tsunami. And when those waves come crashing down on foreign shores, instead of running inside, shutting the blinds, and picking out a prom dress, I can be the one reaching out and helping others. I can be the one who identifies the problem, rallies the troops, and gets the job done! And the ones who realize they have that power, the power to empower, are the ones who will create change.Read other posts from The Voice.
