A school in Montreal held a barefoot soccer tournament to raise money for child soldiers in Uganda.
There were 8 teams (10 players each) that were competing. Each team had to raise approximately 1000$ to participate.
All day, there was a DJ and a “No Child For Sale” campaign booth so the people could sign it throughout the day. Many supporters came to cheer for their favorite team!
The game was barefoot so the players could experience what this game is like for the poorest in the world. The event raised over $10,000 and was a huge success.
The main objective was to raise awareness about the issue of child soldiers in Uganda and poverty in general. It was also to encourage people to raise money to help the poor and make a difference!
